MANTA RAYS THRIVE AT HIGH SCHOOL STATE MEETS

The Mason Manta Rays made a impressive showing at the Ohio High School State Swim Meet this past weekend in Canton, OH. An incredible 68 swimmers qualified for the prestigious meet, showcasing the depth and strength of the program. The Manta Rays were represented by 46 Division I qualifiers (25 girls, 21 boys), 21 Division II qualifiers (12 girls, 8 boys), and even one Kentucky qualifier. Athletes from 22 different high schools, including three sets of siblings, competed in the same pool, Canton McKinely, that has hosted this meet since 1980.

The Manta Rays brought home a collection of state titles and top-three finishes. The following is a list of the Top 3 finishers:

Division I Girls:

  • Bella Teply: Champion in the 200 Free and 100 Free.
  • Addie Robillard: Champion in the 200 IM and 100 Breast.
  • Maya Schweikert: Champion in the 100 Fly (Team Record!) and 100 Back (Meet & Pool Record!).
  • Dana Fairbanks: Third place in the 200 IM and second place in the 500 Free.
  • The Girls 400 Free Relay team, comprised entirely of Manta Rays, captured the state title!
  • Maya Schweikert was awarded the prestigious Performance of the Meet!

Division I Boys:

  • Hayden Meyers: Champion in the 200 IM and 100 Back.
  • Brady Campbell: Champion in the 50 Free and second place in the 100 Fly.
  • Hayden Meyers also earned the Performance of the Meet award!

Division II Girls:

  • Taylor Bacher: Champion in the 200 Free and second place in the 100 Fly.
  • Julia Shafer: Champion in the 200 IM and 100 Free.
  • Ansley Neff: Second place in the 200 Free and third place in the 100 Free.
  • Reese Reilly: Third place in the 200 IM and Champion in the 100 Breast.

Division II Boys:

  • Jason Zhao: Champion in the 200 Free.
  • Arjun Velayutham: Third place in the 200 Free and third place in the 500 Free.
  • Leo Gustavsson: Third place in the 100 Free.

This weekend, the Manta Rays look to continue their fast swimming at the Ohio Swimming Short Course Championships at Miami University.
