The City of Mason coaches swept the 2019 Ohio Swimming Coach of the Year awards for the second year in a row! These awards were voted on by coaches from the 60+ teams in Ohio – and will awarded at the Ohio Swimming Banquet this Sunday afternoon at the Manor House in Mason. Each award comes with a $1000 stipend to the City for continuing education. City of Mason's head swim coach Ken Heis earned his American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) Level 5 Certification. There are five levels that reflect a coach's level of academic training, experience, and achievement. Only 3% of the 13,000 swim coaches who have been ASCA certified have earned the highest Level 5 certification. Every coach in the country has to be USA Swimming certified. COLUMBUS - For the first time in the City of Mason's - Mason Manta Ray program's history, the Manta Ray 14 & Under Junior Olympic (JO) State Team was the runner-up JO Combined Team Champions while the Girls' Team WON the Girls' team title! This past weekend's 14 & Under Junior Olympic state championship held at the Ohio State University's 50 meter pool.
